Love, Light and Life

... more than a devotional

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God's] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9 AMPC

Many people know that we are not saved by works but by grace. That's so beautiful and important to comprehend. Your salvation is not a result of anything good work you did to deserve it. It's a free gift from God, courtesy of the work of Jesus Christ for your sake.

But you see, while we aren't saved by works, there's a place for works in our salvation, and it's also very important. We were not saved because we did good. But were saved, to go good. Good works don't produce salvation. They're the result of salvation.

So apostle Peter says, you are a chosen race, a special people, a kingdom of priests, called forth to display the wonderful deeds of Christ, His perfections and virtues. You see, to display Christ's wonderful deeds means to live it out or express it in your life.

So God saved us from the powers of sin and put in us the power of righteousness, with the desire, command and expectation that we walk in righteousness, which is the character of God. The fruit of our salvation should be visible to everyone. We weren't saved by works, but we were saved to produce good works. Hallelujah.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for such a precious salvation with which you have saved me. I choose to live by your life, and walk in your word as your Spirit helps me in Jesus name. Amen
