LET THE GOOD BE VOLUNTARY

But without your consent I wanted to do nothing, that your good deed might not be by compulsion, as it were, but voluntary. Philemon 1:14

It's beautiful to do good to people, and it's even more beautiful when the good being done is very voluntary, not forced or compelled. Some people will not be a blessing to others, unless they are compelled and pushed to do so. They want to see a thousand reasons first. So wrong.

Then some others drive the cart from the other end. They try to use their authority or influence over others to compel their goodness. Both extremes are wrong. If we are in the position to do good to people,

let us do so willingly and gladly. Not waiting to be compelledAlso if you're in a position to receive good being done to you, don't use your influence to force it to happen.Give the doer the opportunity to voluntarily do good out of honour. That's where the blessing is.

When the act becomes compelled, the blessing attached is not same as when it's voluntary. Paul has the influence to force Philemon, but he wouldn't do so. Let's learn this beautiful kingdom principle for ourselves too. Let the good be voluntary. That's where the blessing is. You're blessed. TCF
