CALLED BY A NEW NAME
James 2:7
Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?
Apostle James talking to the Christian Jews scattered due to persecution asks them why they are partial towards arrogant rich men. He goes on to say that these arrogant rich men blaspheme the Precious (noble) name by which Christians are called. The precious and noble name by which we are called? What's he talking about?
God speaking about Zion through the prophet Isaiah (62:2) says nations of the world will see Zion's glory, and she will be called by a new name which God shall designate. We in Christ are those in Zion. God said we shall be called by a new name which He shall designate. Well which name did He designate? The name of Jesus Christ! (Philippians 2:10-11)
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, of things on earth, of things under the earth, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord! That's the name God designated! The name of His Son Jesus Christ! That's the name we've been called by! Ever since we were born again, our names were changed spiritually!
Now, the authority and functionality and blessings of the name of Jesus are conferred on us. How glorious this is! We've been called by a new name! The name of Jesus Christ. Glory to God!
