Daily devotional: truth the best tool against deception

Through the scriptures, the new covenant believers are warned of one thing over and over again. The devices of the enemy, which is deception (lies and falsehood). Take note of the words of Apostle Paul to Timothy, which of course serves as an admonision to us. "Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times, many will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons". "The Spirit expressly says" means that this which he spoke of, would surely, and definitely happen, and emphatically it's happening in our days. But that's not the major concern. You need to be alert on two things; to whom is it happening, and how? Paul says "many shall depart from the faith" this means that the target by the deceiving spirits are men who were actually a part of the faith before. They were truly in the faith, so it's not like the one who will be deceived are unbelievers. OPEN YOUR EYES! Next is how? He says "giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons". So you need to understand this last part. Their departure from faith isn't going to be like a great fall, maybe into sin or into some bondage outrightly. No!

He says, they will give heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons. It's an intelligent plan by darkness, a clever, subtile plan, to gradually and steadily sweep people who are born again off their feet by wrong doctrine, wrong messages, and various forms of deception. This simply means that the ones who are being deceived will actually be unaware. They will sincerely think they are on the right path, but they would be drinking from dead waters. You ask how is this possible? What must be done? You go and pick up your Bible and continually study with the Holy Spirit! Continually pray in line with what He teaches you, and then we can continue tomorrow. You're blessed. Give your life to Christ if you haven't, don't remain in deception. Believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died and resurrected for you. Declare that He's Lord of your life. Thank Him for saving you. You're blessed. -TCF
