DILIGENTLY BUILD COMPETENCE
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 NKJV
The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 22:14, that many are called, but few are chosen. Do you know the difference between the called and the chosen? It's in the intentionality of their response to the call. One person may have the desire and dream to become a medical doctor. He might have even seen himself in visions operating on people.
But just because you have a vision or a call for something doesn't immediately make you competent for that thing. Your competence will come in the intentionality of your response to the call.
There are trainings you have to undergo, knowledge you have to acquire, skills you have to master so as to be competent. These things don't just happen by accident. They are the result of intentional and precise steps to develop yourself. The same is true, both for physical things and spiritual things.
So just like apostle Paul told Timothy, you also must be diligent to be trained and competent for whatever the Lord has called you to be. Don't think the call makes you competent. No. Competence is born from diligence. But the call assures that all you need to excel in competence are available to you, should you choose to respond. Glory to God!
Prayer: Dear Father, I thank you for your grace and call in my life, first to Christ, to be born again, and then to my assignment in your kingdom. I choose to diligently get trained, by the Word of God and other materials, to be competent to fulfill the work which you've assigned to me, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
