IT'S THE CHURCH IN MOTION
And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
Matthew 16:18 NKJV
When Jesus asked his disciples, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus said that Peter's response was neither the result of common sense nor of human understanding. He said it was revealed to him by the Father.
So Peter received a revelation about Jesus. That He is the Christ, the Son of the living God. This revelation explained Jesus, who is our Rock. Jesus further said that on this rock, who He is, he will build his church, and the gates of hell will not overpower it.
The rendering sometimes makes people think that Jesus established the church, and then the powers of hell are coming against it, and the church just has to hold up against them. But no! It is the church in motion! It is the church that is coming up against the kingdoms and powers of hell which were already on ground.
The church is God's army, sent to destroy and plunder darkness, and rescue men from their grip. The church is not just trying to hold up, the church is coming at, and running over darkness, and the powers of hell cannot withstand the church, who is God's force, for they have no power against us! Glory to God!
Prayer: In the name of the Lord Jesus, we move, we pursue, and we rescue the souls of men, saving them from perishing. With the gospel of Jesus Christ which is the power to save souls, we deliver men from darkness, and from Satan's grip in Jesus mighty name. Amen!
