In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

Ephesians 1:13 NKJV

Do you know why you can trust God's promise of salvation to you? It's because of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the seal of your salvation. This means He is your assurance that you are saved in Christ, and your salvation is cap-tight, not up for debate.

John 7:39 reveals a dispensation on earth, when it was possible to believe in Jesus Christ and not yet received the Holy Spirit. This was because Jesus was not yet glorified. I.e. He had not died, resurrected and ascended, therefore the Holy Spirit was not yet released to live in men and reside in their hearts.

But those days are long gone. The Holy Spirit has long been released to dwell in men, ever since the day of Pentecost. The prophecy of prophet Joel has been fulfilled. (Acts 2: 1-5, 14-21). And today, the Holy Spirit comes into the heart of anyone who believes in Jesus Christ. He comes in at the point of your rebirth.

This is what apostle Paul meant when he said, if anyone doesn't have the Spirit of Christ, then he doesn't belong to Him. Because the Spirit of Christ is the seal for all who belong to Christ. He's the seal of your salvation, and He resides in your heart.

Prayer: Thank you dear Father, for giving me your Holy Spirit as the seal of my salvation. I am not alone. I am not empty. The Holy Spirit resides in me, and my salvation is sure in Christ Jesus my Lord. Amen.
