But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

James 1:25 NKJV

Before the coming, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God's people, the nation of Israel, were placed under the law of Moses, that is the law of commandments, which they had to keep in order to live. Sadly, this law was faulty, because it lacked the power to deliver them from the power of sin and death.

This law also couldn't purge their consciences from dead works, nor get them into a guiltless life of justification from condemnation. Today however, we are in a new dispensation! Glory to God.

We are in the dispensation of grace. For by grace we have been saved! (Ephesians 2:8). Now, it's also important and beautiful to note that in grace, we are governed by a law, a law very different from what the nation of Israel had. Our theme verse describes it as the perfect law that makes us free! Glory to God!

Apostle Paul described this law, as the law of the Spirit of Life, which has set us free from the law of sin and death glory to God (Romans 8:2). This is not a law which we have to obey to live, no, it is the law that has made us obedient and has given us life! It is the law that has made us free from sin, to live a life full of God's glory! This law is the word of God at work in us!

Affirmation: I am a new creation, governed by a new law, the perfect law of liberty! This law has set me free from sin and death, and has brought me into a life of obedience to God! This law is the word of God at work in me, to the glory of God in Jesus name. Amen!
