A NECESSARY READINESS
And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight.
2 Peter 3:14 NLT
There's a readiness which we ought to have and live by as we anticipate the return of our Lord. Jesus said, “Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. (Luke 12:42-43).
The state in which we are found when the Lord returns is very important. We ought to be found doing what the Lord has asked us to do before he departed. We ought to be found living the life the Lord instructed us to live before His departure.
While we wait for our Lord's return, we are instructed to make every effort to be living peaceful lives, in purity and beyond blame. The instruction "make every effort" means we should intentionally work it out. We should plan to succeed, and decide to be found living this way.
Don't be careless with your life. Understand that Jesus is coming again. He's coming for a church without spot, blemish or any such thing, and He expects you to be a part of that church. Decide to live in a way that you will be unashamed to meet Him when He returns.
Prayer: Dear Father, I thank you for making me your own, and sealing me with your Holy Spirit. I anticipate the return of my Lord Jesus Christ. Help me to continually live a life that is pleasing to you, as I wait for Christ's return, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
