THE WORK OF THE VINE DRESSER

“Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.”

‭‭John‬ ‭15:2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Jesus says He is the vine, we are the branches, and His Father, our Father is the vine dresser. The vine dresser does two things on the vine. He identifies branches that are unproductive (fruitless) and cuts then off, then identifies those that have some fruit and prunes them so that they can bear more fruit.

He isn't looking for branches that produce little to cut them off. No. He's cutting off branches that are entirely unproductive. Like the servant who was given one talent (Matthew 25:24). He was unproductive, and you notice this happened by choice.

But for the branches that choose to produce, the Lord says the Vine dresser prunes them. The word prune as used by Jesus here means to cleanse. It means that the vine dresser knows that the branches that are productive can produce even better.

But they aren't doing at their best because of some impurities. So the Vine dresser doesn't punish them for the impurities. He rather cleanses them. And how does he do that? Through the word. Therefore when you choose to be productive, and stick to the word, you can only get better!

Prayer: Glory to God who helps me to be productive, and cleanses me, helping me to be even more productive. I bless your Holy name. Thank you Lord in Jesus name. Amen.
