THE KNOWING OF YOUR SPIRIT
“Before the Passover celebration, Jesus knew that his hour had come to leave this world and return to his Father. He had loved his disciples during his ministry on earth, and now he loved them to the very end.”
John 13:1 NLT
Read our theme verse again. See how beautiful it is. Jesus had loved his disciples during His ministry, and now, he loved them to the very end. How beautiful. How comforting. But you see today, our focus is on something else.
Before the Passover celebration, Jesus knew that His hour had come to leave this world and return to His Father. In previous chapters, we'd seen how attempts to kill Jesus had failed or how He avoided them because He knew His time had not yet come. (John 7:8)
So Jesus knew His time hadn't come then, and now He knew His time had come. Realise that all the while He knew He was born to die for the world. But at different times, His spirit could tell whether or not it was the right time for His departure.
There is such a thing as the knowing of your spirit. Where your spirit when properly trained by God's word can tell when the time is right or wrong for certain things. It's discernment, and just like Jesus, we have this gift too.
Prayer: Dear Father, I thank you for the gift of revelation and discernment to me. Thank you Lord for not leaving me in the dark but for leading me in your light. I choose to follow your light, being sensitive your leading, in Jesus name. Amen.
