THE EFFECT OF INFORMATION

“So when they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near the boat; and they were afraid.”

‭‭John‬ ‭6:19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

When we read the account of Jesus walking on water, it's easy to conclude that the disciples because afraid because of Jesus. At least that's what it looked like. But we must remember, that Jesus does not strike fear in people. He takes fear away and gives them peace. (John 14:27).

To prove this, when Jesus noticed the disciples were afraid, He didn't take Himself away from them to help them deal with fear. He told them "it is I", that they may be at peace. So why were they afraid? It's simple.

They were afraid because of the information they already believed in their minds. They believed that human beings don't walk on water, so it's got to be a ghost, and ghosts are dangerous, supernatural and stronger than they are.

It was the fear of what this ghost would do to them in the middle of the sea that struck them. And all this was a product of information they had believed in themselves over time in their lives. The information we let into us affect us greatly. And so we must guard our minds from information that isn't inspired by God.

Affirmation: I refuse to be manipulated by ungodly information stored up in me. No matter how true, scientific and logical it seems to be, I choose to disbelieve it if it doesn't conform to the truth of God's word. I believe and live by the truth of God's word only. Hallelujah!
