WELLS OF LIFE

“The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water?”

‭‭John‬ ‭4:11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

A well is a source of water, from which a lot of people fetch to sustain their daily life activities. In the days of Jesus, Wells were one of the major sources of water for life.

At the well of Jacob, Jesus offered the Samaritan woman a kind of water which He called the living water, only if she asked. The woman looked at Jesus and felt He didn't even have a bucket to fetch, so how was He going to get the water to give to her. But no, she didn't understand. Jesus didn't need to fetch.

He Himself is a well. A well not just of water but of life. The well of Jacob didn't contain living water, but Jesus is that well that contains living water. The offer is life. That we should drink of Him and be satisfied.

When we come to Jesus, He changes who we are. He gives us the life we need, and makes us sources of this same life. And so out of our hearts flow rivers of living water. We too are wells of life, because we carry Jesus to our world, and we must. The offer of life is still available today.

Prayer: Dear Father, I thank you for making  me a source of life to my world. I thank you Lord for making me just as Christ is. My world will not lack living water. By your grace, I dispense freely to all who need in Jesus name. Amen.
