MORE AUTHENTIC "IMAMS" RATHER THAN "UNKNOWN CHRISTIAN CLERICS" WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER AS INVITEES.

Fr A. N. Abiagom, CM

1. I congratulate the tailors who must have worked all night to get the religious garments of the unknown clerics who attended a recent event, claiming to represent Christianity in Nigeria. And the several male bishops without dioceses (including the only female in their amidst) who volunteered  to be clothed in  those garments and blatantly refused to identify their denominations and why they were present at the occasion they attended.

2. I had expected to see numerous Imams at the occasion but instead, was surprised to see several persons vested in ridiculous Christian clerical garments (especially the one who dressed like a Catholic Priest that is processing into the Church for Mass).

3. Politics should respect religion rather than attempt to use it as an object to score cheap political goals. One of the modern trends in Nigerian politics today is the attempts to making "Pastors" vice presidential candidates. Why not Imams? If the pastors are so loved, they should be made presidential flag bearers instead.

4.  Catholic priests are abducted and killed and nothing serious is done to ending the ugly trend by the powers governing the nation. If the efforts spent in ensuring the presence of the unknown clerics at the event is used in fighting against the abduction and killing of Catholic priests and the Christian faithful, there would have been no need trying to tell the world that  some unknown bishops and "bishopress" are in support of the Muslim - Muslim ticket.

May God have mercy on us!
