THE ESSENCE OF SCRIPTURE
“in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.” Daniel 9:2 NIV
There are people who don't really value studying the word and getting acquainted with it, because they have not realised how much the word affects them. The word of God is given to us, to aid our understanding of spiritual things. Things about God and how they relate to us.
Daniel understood by the scriptures. This time, neither by visions, nor by angels, but by the books. Imagine he wasn't studying. He wouldn't have known or understood what times they were in, and what they had to do.
Further down in vs22, an angel comes to Daniel and gives him the skill to understand. But he wouldn't have gotten to that point except he first got acquainted with the scriptures.
There's so much God would love to communicate to you, but can't do so except you have a certain level of acquaintance with the Word. That depth of understanding/revelation you desire will come if you would just start with the Word. Don't despise the word. Go for the word. You're blessed. TCF
