MORE THAN THESE?
So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?”... John 21:15
From yesterday, we saw that the reason Judas betrayed Jesus, and acted in the way he did, was not because he disliked Jesus, but simply because there was something he loved more than the Lord. The was money.
Even today, many people compromise their faith, not because they stopped loving God, but because they were faced with something they loved more than the Lord. Even the bible recorded that many of the rulers believed in Jesus, yet they could not confess their faith because they loved the praise of men, more than the praise of God. (John 12:43).
You see, many times, the problem isn't that a person doesn't love the Lord. They'll tell you they love God, but then, there are things they love more than Him. And that's why Jesus asked Peter the question "do you love me more then these?" It's true you love Jesus, but do you love Him more than thel beautiful and pleasant things in this world?
Do you love Him more than the money? More than friends and success in life? Do you love Him more than these? Because anything you love even slightly more than the Lord, no matter how good, becomes a snare for you and your faith. Search your heart. You're blessed. TCF.
