RIGHT APPROACH TO PARENTS
For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. Hebrews 12:10
Many people easily take offence at their parents because of their approach at parenting. Many times, we feel that parents are in the excess or are overreacting toward certain things.Some people feel that the discipline approach or corrective method of their parents is just too much.
Here's what the scripture says though; our fathers chastened us as seemed best to them.You see, the many procedures they took and still take is the best they know. They only truly wanted our best at heart and all they did was the best they knew how to do.
If our parents knew better, they'd do better. What then must we do? First, we need to understand that it's most probably our parents first shot at parenting with us.They've actually not done this before, so they're learning on the job as the Holy Spirit teaches them. Pray for your parents.
Choose to make excuses for them, and do your best to understand them. Also try to reason with them on issues, and don't just carry things in your heart.Remember that you must respect them and obey them under God first, even before complaining. Finally, choose to learn from their parenting on you, and resolve to be a better parent on your kids. You're blessed. TCF.
