WHY DO YOU SEEK HIM 1
Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. John 6:26
The following day after Jesus performed the miracle feeding the 5000, many people came looking for Him. They took the stress of getting on the boats, and crossing to Capernaum seeking Jesus. They truly sought Him. But when they found him, Jesus said to them,
... You seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. These people truly sought for Jesus, even Jesus acknowledged this. And indeed, the feeding of the 5000 was a huge sign by Jesus confirming His power and authority. But these people didn’t come because they had seen the great sign Jesus did.
They came because they had eaten of the loaves and had an appetite for more loaves. Their eyes were not on Jesus, but on the materials He could give. Just like many today, come before God continually in prayers, fastings, petitions, but they don’t come because of Christ.
Many are consumed by the desire for physical blessings and materials and Anointing/Grace for personal gain. It’s good to seek Him. It’s good to come before Him, but what exactly do you seek when you come. Do you really seek to know Him or you seek what He can give. It’s beautiful to pray and fast really, but what exactly do you want. Him or His stuff? And why do you want what you want. Think on this. You are blessed. TCF
