THE THINGS FREELY GIVEN
1 Corinthians 2:12
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
One day, a certain guy visited a church, for the first time, and he was welcomed as a first timer. He was given the first timers package, which included drinks, peanuts, a letter, a jotter,a pen and some other things. At home, this fellow ate the snack and started using the pen right away.
Many days later, a friend of his told him that she had received the number of the senior pastor of that church. In shock, he asked how it was possible, since she had only attended the church once, just like him. She said it was written in the letter that was given to them. Imagine that? The number of the senior pastor was freely given to every new person in the church, on the first day of their attendance.
All new members got the first timers package, and of course, the letter and all. But only those who took time to go through the letter had good knowledge of the things that were freely given to them. This guy had the pastor's number all along, but he did not know it, and thus, he could've never used it. This is the same way it is with we and God. Ever since we came to Christ, we were given a lot, even all things freely. The package of salvation for everyone is the same, total and complete.
Yet many times, the problem people have is that they don't know the things that are freely given to them by God, simply because they haven't spent time with the Holy Spirit who should reveal those things. So many people end up going round in circles, looking for things they already have! Don't be like that. The Holy Spirit leads you into all truth in Christ, even as you abide in the Word and fellowship with the Spirit. Choose to know! Refuse to be ignorant. Ignorance is costly. Be wise!
