Topic: What did you have to offer?

For reading and Meditation: Acts 3:1-10

Thought: The greatest error that believers have allowed and which has come to stay with them is that which I called "ignorance of the inestimable worth in Christ".

Memory Verse: Acts  3:6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

What did you have to offer?. At the sight of this question, many may possibly affirmed "I have gotten so many things to offer". Certainly, you have gotten so much to offer. We have gotten so much to offer. Nevertheless, the problem doesn't lie in having that which we can offer. What causes the bone of contention is the refusal to recognized and dispense that which we have to offer.

In our text for today, the lame man did what he knows how to do best which is to beg for alms and without doubt, the reason why he gave Peter and John his attention was driven by his expectation to receive something.

The fifth verse of Act chapter 3 confirmed it " And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them". This means in essence that the man's heed is directly proportional to the manifestation of his expectation from this men;John and Peter.

He expected them to give him something. It doesn't matter to him what they have gotten to offer.

All he eagerly waited for is to see them probably bringing out some cash or perhaps some food items and then hand them over to him but Peter changed the expectation of him.

He doesn't even need the man's consent before he gave out that which he has gotten to offer.

I Paraphrase Peter's word "We don't have immediate solution to offer you but we have eternal solution to offer you and that eternal solution is Jesus Christ".

Peter understand that there is a power in the name of Jesus Christ which he believes can bring the man a lasting solution.

He thought it needless to offer the lame man the same thing that have been given to him from year to year.

I supposed Peter said "What is the need of giving this lame man the things of the world which couldn't liberate him from this great mess while I possess that which can liberate him".

In that family, Career, Relationship, House of God, Community, Nation and the world at large, what have you gotten to offer when high expectations are placed on you?

The reason why Peter and John makes the difference was because they give out that which they have.

Nobody and not even the lame man expects to get a lasting solution to his problem but through Peter's understanding of what he possessed, the lame man become liberated.

Will you rather prefer to see people suffer all along while you possess that which you can offer them and which can bring a lasting solution to them? Remember, only selfish men does that and I believe we are selfless just like Christ himself was.

What have you gotten to offer?

If you look less of yourself, you will become less.

Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:13 gave a powerful declaration which brings confidence in Jesus.

It says "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me".

You already possess that which you can offer. Recognise them and begin to make use of them now through your faith in Christ Jesus.

Think healings and offer them.

I pray that you receive the ability to function in that which you have gotten to offer in Christ from this moment onward. Amen!

Assignment : Write down on your Jotter, two things which gave Peter the assurance in that which he possess.

 Prayer Points.

1. Father! I refused to be a spectator while others are acting in the name of Jesus.

2. Every lack of confidence in that which I possess in Christ Jesus that have been hovering around, I detached you from my life in the mighty name of Jesus.

3. Empower me Lord to give to those that need that which I possess in you.
