BE DISCIPLINED

1 Corinthians 9:25

And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.

As Christians, we must understand that we are to be masters of our bodies and minds. We must learn to be in control of the things we do, and how we do them. We can't afford to live anyhow.

Self-control is one of the products of the Holy Spirit in us, and we must put it to work. He that competes for the prize is temperate in all things. This talks about exercising moderation in everything we do. Now we shouldn't do wrong things at all, and in everything we do, we must exercise moderation.

In the way we talk, eat, drink, behave, etc. Our lives should be an expression of discipline. Not bondage or religion, but godly discipline. This is because many times, a lot of things will try to take over us, and try to make us spend our resources wrongly or act wrongly.

We must consciously build ourselves to be in charge of our decisions and way of life. So that we will walk in God and God only to the full. In such a world as we are in, with many distractions, only the disciplined can walk with God indeed. Let us learn to exercise discipline by the power of the Holy Spirit in us.

Prayer: Father, I choose to be disciplined, and I exercise discipline by the power of the Holy Spirit in me, in Jesus' name. Amen.
