CHURCH GIST: GOD TOLD ME TO DROP ALL THE TITLES I WAS USING AND ADOPT ‘PASTOR’

-Pastor E. A. Adeboye on the 40th Special Thanksgiving Anniversary

I was 40 years old, sitting in my office then, in front of my table there was a name plate, Reverend, Dr Adeboye, Bsc, Msc, PhD. I was 40 years old and then God spoke to me.

He will speak to somebody here today. Suddenly, He showed me a little picture, a picture of a valley, a hill and at the turning point of each one, there was 40 at the bottom. He said son, 'look at this two which will you choose', l chose the one that was like a valley. He said 'good because where you are now is the lowest you would ever be.'

He said all these Reverend, Dr e.t.c have to go, you humble yourself and l will lift you up. From that day till now, we have been going higher.

I decree that you will be going higher in every facet of your life.

GOD TOLD ME TO STOP CARRYING THE BURDEN THAT IS NOT MINE!

After about two years of being General Overseer, for about the 39 parishes we had, there was about 39 problems. Crisis upon crisis.

The Supreme Council then used to meet and l had to fast at least three days before the meeting because then it was a battle.

I stood before the mirror one day, l wasn't 40 yet and all my hair had gone grey l spoke to the Lord and He said to me 'you are the one worrying. You are carrying the burden that is not yours',

He asked me the name of the Church I said the Redeemed Christian Church of God, He asked again and again and He said 'is it the Redeemed Christian Church of Adeboye'? I said no, He said 'why are you carrying the burden that is not yours?  l am using you as a camouflage,  it is not your Church so it is not your problem'.

I stopped worrying and within two weeks my hair became black. When l turned 70, l looked at the mirror and saw gray hair, l asked Him, am l worrying again? He said 'no, you are growing old'.

Whatever has been causing you to worry, in the name that is above every other name, it will end today.
