IMPLICATIONS OF YOUR NEW NAME

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Having been called by the name of Jesus Christ, we need to understand the implications of our new name, so that we can experience the reality of all the truth and blessings that are associated with our name. We can borrow a leaf from the reality of Abram who was called by a new name 'Abraham'.

When God spoke to Abram in Genesis 17:5, He told told him; your name shall not be Abram anymore, but Abraham'. He said it's because He (God) had already made Abraham a Father of many nations. Basically that was the implication of the name. From that day onward, as far as God was concerned, Abraham was already a Father of many nations and He only wanted Abraham to see this same truth from God's point of view.

Though physically Abraham didn't have even one legitimate child, it didn't change the fact that He was already a Father of many nations. Understand that from that day onward, Abraham was not trying to become a Father of many nations. He wasn't trying to become who God had said he was. He simply understood and believed that who God had said He was is who He was.

In the same way, we aren't trying to become who God has said we are. We already are who God has said we are. Catch this truth from our theme verse. You are not becoming a new creature in Christ; you have already become a new creature! Glory to God! There's more but we'll continue tomorrow. Remain on the Word and in prayers. You're blessed. -TCF
