A non negotiable quality of an ant ✍️

 *Reference* (Diligency)

**Thought* Words of mouth without any action can birth no result. A bountiful harvest can only come due forth from a diligent sowing.

*Memorise*: Proverbs  22:29 Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

The ant is unarguably a miniature creature as compared to some other creature but there was this significant quality which make it to become a creature of relevancy. Hence it is  set as an example to be followed  even by men.

This quality in no doubt is a quality which is needed to be found among brethren and this was the reason why the word beseech us in proverb 6:6 to emulate this quality of an ant that bring wisdom.

Looking closely at the quality of this special mini creatures " *Time* " was a key factor to their diligency.

The ants have the understanding of time and this enable them to gather their food in the summer when they have the strength to and doing that enable them to have enough to eat in the days when time may not permit them to do the gathering or when the food may not even exist to be gathered.

Being a believer is not a key factor to lazying around as a lazy man is a laggard. Always lagging behind.

Being a Christian is not a key factor to sleep away that precious time and this was why the word says in Proverbs  6:10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

It is only men that are diligent in things they do that will stand before kings and not mean men.

Only men that consider the ways of the ants are free from poverty and wants. Vs 11

It baffles me how many Christians read some of the promises of the word as though they are just given to be keyed  into without application.

True, the Lord will supply all our needs according to his riches in glory but it can't just happen without applying our act of dilligency.

Ours is to believe that God will supply all our needs but we must not forget that we also have a role to play in order to experience this abundance nature of him.The word even stated it in James 2: 26 that faith without work is dead.

Before the promises of Psalm 23:1 & vs5 can become effective in our lives we must be willing to walk through the paths of righteousness and dilligency of course should'nt be an exclusion from those paths.

In physics, the first newton law of motion state that "a body will always tend to remain in a state of rest or motion unless it is acted upon by an external force". A close look at this law, it can be liken to someone in that state of rest( that sleep, that procrastination, poverty, or that act of feeling indifferent to the things that are of necessity in life). But if these external forces (Diligency and promptness to time) can  be put into proper consideration then the person will be poverty free and lacking no good thing.

Believing in those promises are very important but a lot must be sow in order to partake in the bountiful harvest.

One thing is to be diligent but another thing is to strike a balance in all areas of our lives. We shouldn't be diligent in our academics and then leave the things of God or our relationship with men shaky. This is not balance.

We shouldn't be diligent in running our business or making money and then neglect our relationship with God or family. This is not proper.

The best we are expected to do is to be diligent and time conscious in every aspect of our lives then we shall enjoy the unique promises of the scriptures. So, we should  be diligent in all we do Colossians 3:23

As a young man or woman the best to do now is to gather now when we are yet young because a time comes when there won't be enough strength or agility to gather.

*Assignment* Look closely at the history of some successful men either in ministry/business or academics. What do you observe from their lives or story?

*Prayer point* Father Lord, please empower me to gather when I ought to.
