THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING TAUGHT
rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
Colossians 2:7 NKJV
Have you realised that for you to excel at anything, you have to be taught? Teaching, and your willingness to learn are highly important in your excellence. Colossians 2:6-7 says As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
You see, though you are in Christ, you'll not get to walk in the Lord (live the life of the Spirit), grow effectively to be strong and established in the faith, unless you are taught to do so. You need to learn this life. It's like a craft which you must master. This is why when the Holy Spirit comes into our lives, He begins to teach us all truth.
He opens up our understanding, to know things differently from how we used to see them. To ensure His teaching ministry in our lives operates in it's fullness, we definitely have a responsibility. We must intentionally make ourselves students of the Word of God.
Choose to study the scriptures daily, to write down and take notes, like you're in a class. This is one primary way growth happens. Then, choose to sit under someone who has gone ahead of you in the things of the Lord. Someone you can talk to, and trust to lead you. If you choose to learn, you will be established in the faith.
Affirmation: Dear Father, I accept that I need to be taught in order to grow and be established in the faith. In the name of Jesus, I submit to the Word of God, to make myself available to learn daily as the Holy Spirit teaches me through the Word. I grow and make progress in my life in Jesus name. Amen.
