GROW TO UNDERSTAND
as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,
I Peter 2:2 NKJV
Very often, Christians are bothered with one question; How do I get to hear God. Many desire the answer to this, because they really want to hear God. But have you ever wondered how a child gets to hear his parents? Or how he gets to hear his environment?
You see, a person born into this world does not grow up wondering, "how do I get to hear". He's simply born hearing, and grows up to understand the things he hears. Christians are the children of God, born into Christ in the realm of the Spirit. They don't need to bother with how to hear God. They are born hearing. Jesus said, my sheep hear my voice. (John 10:27).
So the Christian, is born into Christ, hearing God. But the problem is, does he understand the things he hears? Just as sounds, or words will not make sense or will even go unnoticed unless they are understood, so also the communications of the Spirit will not make sense or will even go unnoticed unless the Christian learns to understand what these communications mean.
There are patterns, principles, promptings, visions, revelations, nudges, inspirations and several communications by the Spirit. But how will you grow in understanding these things, except by the Word? The milk for growth is in the Word.
Prayer: Dear Father, I thank you for birthing me into Christ through your Holy Spirit, with the full ability and design to hear you, and indeed I do. I thank you for your Word sent to me, and by your Word, I'll grow to understand the language and communications of the Spirit and the kingdom in Jesus name. Amen.
