THE COMMANDMENT TO LOVE

This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

John 15:12 NKJV

One of the most important aspects of our practice of Christianity, is our practice of love. Love for God and love for the brethren. These two are really important. Jesus gives us a commandment, to love one another, just as He has loved us. And He told us that He has loved us, with the same manner of love with which the Father has loved Him. (John 15:9)

This tells us, that it all streams down from our relationship and understanding of God, our Father. Do you know that He loves you? Do you know how He loves you? Well, many people claim to love God, but don't walk in love towards others. They don't treat others in love.

What does it mean to treat others in love? Firstly, to have a godly concern for their soul and where their life is headed. Secondly, to have a godly concern for their lives, and the conduct of it, together with their experiences, without condemnation. Thirdly, to allow these godly concerns drive you to action for them and towards them.

Actions which include primarily praying for them, speaking to them as much as you have opportunity to, and offering help to them in any regard you can. This help could include just treating them right, without discrimination, checking up, listening, and being sensitive to them.

It's highly important that we walk in love towards people. Why? Because many times, our communication of love to a person will bring salvation, healing, restoration and direction to their lives. Allow yourself, be a channel of God's love. Hallelujah.

Affirmation: I am full of the love of God. I'm assured He loves me dearly and purely, therefore, I love other people with the same love with which God loves me. I don't discriminate. I'm not insensitive to others, and I don't treat them with condemnation. I pray for them, listen to them, speak to them, and help out as I can in Jesus name. Amen.
