 FATHER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO CHILDREN

And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

Ephesians 6:4 NKJV

Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6 NKJV). You see, there is an upbringing which a child ought to have. And truthfully, God does not expect children to bring themselves up by themselves.

Children are people who are in a position of immaturity in a field, and need to learn to grow into maturity. It is a Father's responsibility to raise the child in his right upbringing. A child should be brought up in the training of God, and the admonition of God.

This means that these two things are necessary for maturity. The training, which means discipline, and the admonition, which means instructions. So a child should grow to be disciplined to follow the instructions of God.

The discipline is cultivated by a lifestyle of practice, and proper planning. And the admonition is obtained by teaching. The discipline is necessary to keep to the teachings/instructions, and the instructions give the discipline a direction. And so those under our influence to learn from us, should be taught, both the knowledge and discipline for maturity.

Prayer: Thank you dear Father, for giving me the Holy Spirit, who teaches me your word, and helps me to learn discipline in your word. I pray for all you bring my way, help me be an effective teacher, that I'll teach them, just as I am taught by you, to grow in discipline and knowledge, in Jesus name. Amen.
