HOW TO KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS

Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.

Joshua 1:8 NLT

Many people have believed that keeping God's word is one of the most difficult things a person would have to do in Christianity. While it's easy to believe that narrative, we must pay attention to the words of Jesus, because in them we find truth.

Jesus said, "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:29-30. Jesus said, His burden (that is, His demands or requirement) is easy and His yoke is light. Listen, if it were not so, the master wouldn't say so. Believe Him.

You see, keeping God's word will only be difficult if you don't pay attention to how He said we should go about it, and rather try to do it the human logical way. His own prescription is found in our theme verse. If you want to keep the word of God, and live in obedience to God, then ensure God's word is always what is in your speech.

Ensure His word is always what's on your mind and heart. How? By meditating on it day and night. Irrespective of the struggle, just don't stop meditating on the word. He says if you do this, then you will be sure to do all that is written in it. The apostles knew this, and so they said, "but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” (Acts 6:4). Decide to do the same too.

Prayer: Dear Father, I thank you for your wisdom revealed to me through your word. I understand that to keep your word, I simply need to continue meditating on it, speaking it and praying it, and it will prompt me to obey you. I decide to give myself continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
