BE FILLED WITH HIS KNOWLEDGE
So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.
Colossians 1:9 NLT
It's beautiful and important to be born again. But do you know that the journey of salvation does not end with being born again. It only starts there! After you are born again, you're like a child in the Spirit (because that's where you were newly born into). And therefore just as children need to be fed right and thought right so they can grow right, so do you.
Apostle Paul in our theme verse speaks to the Christians in colosea and says that since he heard about their love for others which was birthed by the Holy Spirit in them, he has not stopped praying for them, that they should be filled with the knowledge of God's will, and have spiritual wisdom and understanding.
You see he knew that Christ's love in their heart was just one step. And just as a child in the flesh needs to grow in human knowledge and understanding, so does a child in the Spirit. Otherwise, he'd remain immature, and become a liability who cannot achieve His full potential.
God's desire is for you to be filled with His word, His truth. He wants you to become acquainted with His manner of reasoning, and be renewed by it. He wants you to learn life from Him. So that you can live the good, pleasing and perfect life to Him. Don't stop where you are. Grow! Be filled with His knowledge.
Prayer: Dear Father, I thank you for your word, and your Spirit whom you have given to me. Help me desire to know you. Help me desire even more to fellowship with you. That I'll be filled with your knowledge ever more gloriously, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
