CONVICTION OR GUILT?

For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

II Corinthians 7:10 NKJV

Our theme verse describes two types of sorrows to us. Godly sorrow which produces repentance, and leads to salvation, and worldly sorrow which produces death. One thing to note in these two subjects is that they're both sorrows.

Therefore they might feel alike, and they might be caused by similar events, but then they result in very different outcomes. The truth is that, when you're born again, if you make a mistake in your walk with God, you'll most likely experience these two sorrows.

The godly sorrow is the voice of the

Holy Spirit from your spirit, convicting you on the wrong you did, and making you see the reason you should return to God promptly. In this voice there's no condemnation of your person, but rather a condemnation or correction of the act. And in this voice, there's a push for you to return to the Father.

However, worldly sorrow is the voice of your human nature, full of condemnation to your person for the wrong you did, and a warning that the righteous life might not be for you after all. Give no place to this voice for it is not of God. Yield only to the voice of the Spirit who leads you back to God.

Affirmation: I refuse to give room to the voice of condemnation, guilt and fear. I yield my heart to the Holy Spirit for correction and reconciliation in Jesus name. Amen
