“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.””

‭‭John‬ ‭8:31-32‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We believe that if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away, and all things have become new. This is true, but many Christians don't have the experience of this freedom though they are in Christ.

It's true that they are free in Christ from all bondages, but they just aren't living in that experience. Jesus said, abide in my words, then you're truly my disciples, and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

This simply means that as a Christian, if there's an area of your life where you still feel like you're in bondage or you aren't experiencing freedom, then there's a lie you still believe. If the truth will make you free, then the lies will keep you bound.

This is why Jesus says abide in my word. Not in popular beliefs. Not in what the public agrees, not even necessarily in tapes and videos, but in "my Word" He says. The truth is the deliverance you need. And your practice of the truth is freedom!

Affirmation: I refuse to live my life merely on popular opinions. I refuse to live based on what others say. I refuse to live on general beliefs. I choose the Word. To sit with Jesus and His word, and take it all in, until I'm transformed in Jesus name. Amen.
