Exodus 3:4

So when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!”

And he said, “Here I am.”

Our theme verse is part of a very popular account many of us know. Moses' encounter with God at the burning bush. The Angel of the Lord appeared to Him in the blazing flames in the midst of the bush. The bush was engulfed in flames, yet it was not burned up.

This was quite a thing to behold. Moses decided to get a closer look. He decided not to just pass by it. And when the Lord saw that Moses had decided to come closer and give the burning bush attention, He called out and spoke to Him.

You see, just like Moses saw the appearance of God in the bush at a distance, many people have seen a glimpse of God. Many have experienced Him just a bit. Many have related with Him but only at a distance. And if that relationship must grow in depth, you need to give Him attention. God appeared to Moses, but he only heard God speak when he (Moses) gave God attention.

God is waiting for you to give Him attention. Some more attention. How do you do this? Simply make time for Him. You can't be busy too busy for someone you truly consider important. No, not for someone you love. Make time for His Word. For prayer. Make time to listen to Him and to share thoughts with Him. He's patiently waiting for you to turn to Him, and listen to His voice in your heart. Simply give Him attention. You're blessed. TCF
