John 4:24

God is Spirit: and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

This was a conversation between our Lord and Master Jesus Christ and a Samaritan woman by the well. In the course of the discussion, Jesus makes a statement which carries a striking revelation. God is Spirit, and they who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

Sometimes, people think that Jesus was saying that God is a spirit-being, not a physical being, but no. That's not what He was saying. He didn't say God is a spirit. If Jesus had said that, then, the former would've been correct. He didn't say God is a spirit. He said God is Spirit. Just as saying somebody is human, is quite different from saying the person is a human being.

In the first case, you are giving a description of the person's nature- the human nature. In the same way, Jesus spoke of the nature of God. God is Spirit. That's His nature-Spirit! The God kind of nature. This is quite different from saying God is a spirit being. Because there are many spirit-beings that are not Spirit. They are flesh, the nature anti-God.

Satan and his demons are spirit beings, but they are not of the Spirit nature. They are of the flesh. Adam before the fall was Spirit in nature, but after the fall, he became flesh. So Jesus says God is Spirit. That's a description of His nature. And those that worship Him must worship in Spirit and truth. If you must worship God, then you must have the nature of God. Flesh cannot worship God. Only men in Spirit can. We'll continue tomorrow. Remain on the Word and in prayers. You're blessed. -TCF
